The state waters of Matagorda Island are a core area for Sterling Energy. The company operates two fields with six active gas wells. The majority of the production is from the prolific Marg. A sands. This is an area of difficult geophysical imaging. Improved seismic data could help add reserves through development of Sterling’s existing fields and identify exploratory deep gas potential.
